The Washington Men’s Camerata, the preeminent men’s chorus in the Nation’s Capital, invites qualified applicants to apply for the full-time, salaried position of Managing Director commencing with the 2024-2025 concert season. Applications must be submitted no later than July 31, 2024.

About the Washington Men’s Camerata – Washington, DC

The Washington Men’s Camerata (WMC), founded in 1984 and based in Washington, DC, performs and promotes the rich tradition of men’s choral singing. Under the artistic leadership of accomplished maestro Scott Tucker, the WMC currently comprises some 50 members. Known for its Demetrius Project, a national repository library of men’s choral music, the Camerata prides itself on its commissioning program of works for men’s chorus, as well as its history of making distinctive recordings. Set in the vibrant choral community of Washington, DC, the Camerata has performed at the John F. Kennedy Center with the National Symphony Orchestra; at the Library of Congress and the Smithsonian Institutions; at the White House and at several Embassies. Ticketed concerts are performed in December, March and May/June each season at various venues in the Washington, DC metro area.

Position Overview:

The Managing Director (MD) will serve as the full-time, primary administrative staff member of the WMC, managing operations that encompass membership, performance, ticket sales, and fundraising activities. Reporting directly to the President of the WMC Board of Directors, the MD will represent WMC before the chorus, general public, donors, stakeholders, media, partners, performance venues and other vendors. The MD also supports the Board in short and long-term planning and in driving strategic initiatives to expand WMC’s audience and funding base and recruit new members. The MD will work closely with the Artistic Director, Board, librarian, committee chairs, and other members of the organization.

Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 40 hours/week, with some flexibility in schedule. Evening/weekend hours will be required as follows: attendance at weekly Wednesday-evening rehearsals and extra rehearsals if scheduled; during periods leading up to and during concerts; and possibly during special events.
